What exactly is ‘binge’ watching? If you were to ask me, I typically would define it as something I view unintentionally without a time clock. Guilty of this, the broadcasts that would somehow manage to grab my attention are showings of sorts that make me long to know more even if I have absolutely no idea on what’s happening. I can recall times when I am planted in front of the tv mindlessly looking up from my phone or whatever it is that I'm doing to see what is playing as the effects of colors and/or actions are being displayed in the background. I feel as though television contributes to my binge watching most of all aside from streaming on my phone, because of the fact that I don’t have to manually search for anything – just turn it on and let it whatever is on play, other than just tapping into an app or going online to make a specific search. It’s less of a hassle and less time-consuming.
One of the reasons for my binge watching is mainly because I don’t want to click off of it and take the time to browse for anything else - even if I’m watching something I don’t have an interest for, I would still watch. So I don’t have a specific genre of shows or movies that I binge to. Because of the fact that I hardly stream and hardly ever watch television, I don’t typically binge watch very often. Though, in the past I used to be intrigued by shows like ‘Good Times’, ‘Boy Meets World’, and ‘The Fosters’. I’m sure there’s plenty more but those are the three I can recall from the later years that I used to watch on television, and would sit through their entire program, simply watching without any disturbances - other than the commercial breaks.
As for movies I would say ‘Terminator’, ‘Alien’, and ‘Matilda’. For Terminator, I only have seen the first three movies in its series: The Terminator, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, and Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, which I think this one by far was my most favorite - but then again this was years ago so I’m not one-hundred percent sure.
Now Matilda goes back to my years in middle school and elementary. This is how the movie got sort of stuck in my head and is one of my go-to movies whenever I’m bored, and just want to pass the time. I haven’t seen it recently, probably because it’s burned out, but it was definitely one of my most binge moments.
This goes for ‘Alien’, aside from watching it in school I have no idea on how I got into watching this screenplay. Out of its four movie series, I would only binge watch the first and second movie. I don’t think there’s really much of an interest there, just some satisfaction in enjoyment whenever it comes on.
